I’m Kanéla, the artist behind Kanéla Hair & Makeup – a Sydney-based international artist specialising in luxury hair and makeup for bridal, special occasion, and editorial events.
I specialise in soft, effortless glam—designed to enhance your natural features while still feeling modern and refined. I offer seamless and elevated experiences, as I bring both hair and makeup together in one booking for your convenience.
My focus is always on creating a look that feels like you, so you can feel confident, comfortable, and truly yourself for every special moment.
My Story
I grew up as the youngest of four, with three older brothers – so naturally, life at home looked a little different for me. While they spent their days playing soccer and cricket in the backyard, my mum enrolled me in dance, and that is where my obsession for beauty all began. I fell in love with the entire ritual of getting ready — the stage lights, the red lipstick, the rollers, the perfectly slicked-back buns. There was something so special about that transformation, and from a young age, beauty became my creative escape… something that felt entirely my own.
By 14, that passion turned into something more. I started my business from home—working at our dining table or being driven to clients' homes by my parents, who would wait for hours until I finished. Looking back, I know none of this would have been possible without them. Their support is the reason I began, and it’s something I carry with me every day.
As my business grew at 16, I began incorporating hairstyling alongside makeup artistry—creating a more seamless, elevated experience for my clients. When I was 17, I opened my home studio — a space that has since become the heart of Kanéla Hair & Makeup. Over the years, it’s grown into so much more than just a studio. It’s where moments are shared, memories are created, and connections are built. I’ve had the privilege of being part of so many milestones — weddings, engagements, formals, graduations, christenings — each one so personal, each one so meaningful.
For me, it’s never just about the final look — it’s about how you feel in the moments that stay with you leaving you calm, confident, and radiant.
